Figure 5.15 is a U.S. map showing percentages reporting past year any illicit drug dependence among persons aged 18 to 25, by State, for 2000. States listed here in alphabetical order within each group were divided into five groups based on the magnitude of their percentages. States in the highest group (4.01 to 5.15 percent) were Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Indiana, Massachusetts, New York, New Hampshire, Oregon, Rhode Island, and Vermont. States in the next highest group (3.69 to 4.00 percent) were Alabama, Florida, Idaho, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Mississippi, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. States in the mid group (3.23 to 3.68 percent) were Arizona, District of Columbia, Illinois, Michigan, Nebraska, Nevada, Ohio, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, and Wyoming. States in the next lowest group (3.01 to 3.22 percent) were Alaska, California, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, and Wisconsin. States in the lowest group (2.48 to 3.00 percent) were Arkansas, Georgia, Hawaii, Iowa, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, South Carolina, Washington, and West Virginia.
