Figure 3.7 is a U.S. map showing percentages reporting past month binge alcohol use among persons aged 18 to 25, by State, for 2000 and 2001. States listed here in alphabetical order within each group were divided into five groups based on the magnitude of their percentages. States in the highest group (46.28 to 59.31 percent) were Connecticut, Iowa, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont, and Wisconsin. States in the next highest group (41.60 to 46.27 percent) were Colorado, Illinois, Maine, Michigan, Nevada, New Hampshire, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Wyoming. States in the mid group (36.85 to 41.59 percent) were Delaware, District of Columbia, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Missouri, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, and West Virginia. States in the next lowest group (33.72 to 36.84 percent) were Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Hawaii, Idaho, Kentucky, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, and Washington. States in the lowest group (23.09 to 33.71 percent) were Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, and Virginia.
