Figure 2.20 is a U.S. map showing percentages reporting past year use of cocaine among persons aged 12 or older, by State, for 2000 and 2001. States listed here in alphabetical order within each group were divided into five groups based on the magnitude of their percentages. States in the highest group (1.98 to 2.79 percent) were Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Delaware, District of Columbia, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Mexico, and Vermont. States in the next highest group (1.66 to 1.97 percent) were Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Minnesota, Montana, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Texas, and Wisconsin. States in the mid group (1.53 to 1.65 percent) were Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Washington. States in the next lowest group (1.37 to 1.52 percent) were Alabama, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, and Wyoming. States in the lowest group (1.23 to 1.36 percent) were Hawaii, Idaho, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, Ohio, Oklahoma, and West Virginia.
