Figure 2.10 is a map showing percentages reporting perceptions of great risk of smoking marijuana once a month among youths aged 12 to 17, by State, for 2000 and 2001. States listed here in alphabetical order within each group were divided into five groups based on the magnitude of their percentages. States in the highest group (40.12 to 48.03 percent) were Alabama, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Mississippi, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, and Utah. States in the next highest group (37.60 to 40.11 percent) were Arkansas, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and West Virginia. States in the mid group (34.62 to 37.59 percent) were Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, South Dakota, Virginia, and Wyoming. States in the next lowest group (31.17 to 34.61 percent) were Arizona, California, Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, Nevada, New York, Oregon, Washington, and Wisconsin. States in the lowest group (23.78 to 31.16 percent) were Alaska, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
