Patterns of Mental Health Service Utilization and Substance Use Among Adults, 2000 and 2001

Figure 5.2 is a bar chart indicating the percentages of persons receiving inpatient mental health treatment in the past year by the number of nights spent in the facility. The chart shows that 24.8 percent of persons receiving inpatient mental health treatment spent a single night in a facility, 31.7 percent spent 2–4 nights in a facility, and 43.6 percent spent 5 or more nights in an inpatient facility in the past year.
