Figure 6.3 is a bar chart that indicates the percentages of adults receiving past year mental health treatment by categories of use and abuse of illicit drugs other than marijuana. The chart shows that among adults who received mental health treatment in the past year, 8.2 percent never in their lifetime used illicit drugs other than marijuana, 16.7 percent used illicit drugs other than marijuana in their lifetime but not in the past year, 15.8 percent used illicit drugs other than marijuana in the past year but were not heavy users and did not have dependence or abuse, 19.0 percent were heavy users of illicit drugs other than marijuana but did not have dependence or abuse, and 34.7 percent were dependent on or abused illicit drugs other than marijuana in the past year.
