Figure 3.3 is a pie chart indicating the estimated numbers and percentages of mutually exclusive categories of mental health treatment received by the 21.1 million adults who received treatment in the past year. The chart shows that among the 21.1 million persons who received mental health treatment in the past year, 8,609 (40.8%) received medication only. It also shows that of the 21.1 million persons receiving treatment in the past year, 6,991 (33.1%) received outpatient and medication treatment, 4,015 (19.0%) received outpatient only treatment, and 1,477 (7.0%) received any inpatient treatment in the past year.
