SAMHSA's Treatment Episode Data Set (TEDS) public use files are available from SAMHSA's Substance Abuse and Mental Health Data Archive (SAMHDA).  The 1992-2000 TEDS files, as well as a concatenated file for 1995-2000, are available from the archive.

The TEDS data can be analyzed using five types of geographic identifiers:  (1) metropolitan area, (2) State, (3) Census Region, (4) Census Division, and (5) State indicator to compare one State to all others combined.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Data Archive (SAMHDA) online data analysis system is provided by the Office of Applied Studies within the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).  In addition to TEDS, SAMHDA contains various data sets on substance abuse that are available for online data analysis.

This short report, The DASIS Report:  Analyzing Geographic Areas Within TEDS, is based on the Drug and Alcohol Services Information System (DASIS), the primary source of national data on substance abuse treatment.  DASIS is conducted by the Office of Applied Studies (OAS) in the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
